Questions
How does the free trial work?
The trial is 14 days with every feature if you get it here or from the Mac App Store. The Microsoft Store is one week (their rules, not ours). You enter payment details at the start. Cancel during the trial and you won't be charged; otherwise your year begins at $79.
Which way should I buy?
All three give you the same app. A license bought here works on Mac or Windows, and you can move it from one to the other. A store purchase stays with that store's platform, and Apple or Microsoft handles the billing and updates.
Do I need booking software to use Rentalist?
No. Rentalist works with bookings you take by email or phone, through your own website, or through Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com. It doesn't connect to other software; it reads the files and emails you already have and takes your input by hand.
Does it link to my bank?
No.
What does it use the internet for?
Checking your subscription, checking whether a newer version is available, and, if you turn it on, reading email from your own mailbox. Store versions also use the store's own purchase window. Your financial data never leaves your computer.
Can I bring in my spreadsheets?
Yes: Excel and CSV files for bookings, expenses and past inquiries. No spreadsheet? Type it into Quick Entry.
What happens if I cancel?
Your Rentalist.pro data is safe on your computer. Renew your subscription to continue using the app. Renewing restores full access immediately. If you intend to cancel, you can export your bookings, expenses, budgets and guest list to spreadsheets before your subscription period ends. We want you to find value in Rentalist, we won't hold your data hostage.
Does Rentalist give tax advice?
Rentalist is not built to provide tax advice. Whether you file taxes for your property as an individual, LLC, or S-corp, Rentalist will organize your data for easy presentation to your accountant, with both common and customizable expense categories that are designed to make your tax preparation easier and quicker. Please rely on your tax preparer for tax advice.
